Michael’s passion for people and service has shaped his life and legal career from an early age. Long before entering the courtroom, he earned the trust of his peers and was elected president of his high school, college, and law school student bodies. Those formative leadership experiences instilled in him a commitment to listening, advocating, and serving others—principles that guide every client relationship and every case he handles. As Michael often says, “If you don’t have time for people, you’re not much of a person yourself.”
Michael represents individuals and families facing catastrophic harm and holds negligent parties accountable in cases involving premises liability, commercial vehicle and tractor-trailer collisions, inadequate security, dram shop liability, and wrongful death.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Risk Management from the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business. After graduation, he served as Special Assistant to Governor Henry McMaster before attending the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law. During law school, Michael served as a law clerk in the Governor’s Office and the White House Counsel’s Office in Washington, D.C. and interned for the Honorable Dennis W. Shedd of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Following law school, Michael clerked for the Honorable Terry L. Wooten, United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina, where he worked on both criminal and civil matters and gained extensive insight into federal trial and litigation practice.
Michael is active in the legal profession and the community. He serves on the board of directors for Providence Home, the South Carolina Association for Justice, and the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division.
He is licensed to practice in all South Carolina state courts, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. His courtroom experience, leadership background, and commitment to service uniquely position him to advocate for clients of Samuels Reynolds Law Firm.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active, volunteering with local organizations in Columbia, and cheering on the Gamecocks.
